Lucy RoseLucy Rose wanted a site that was calm and serene and "matched" the type of products that they sell, they also wanted their ageing logo re-vamped. This site was a joy to work on, and we used some techniques that we hadn't employed before. The Flash banner below the main banner blends in perfectly with the sites design and provides a showcase for items that would have filled the static sections and made it look too busy. Overall we are very happy with the site and think it matches the Lucy Rose ethos perfectly. We also provided artwork and banners for advertising and business cards, compliment slips etc. |
Flagship Fancy DressSian of Flagship Fancy Dress had her site designed by EKM, unfortunately her brief of "fun" didn't seem to be fully understood, the result, sadly lacked fun in the same way as a motorway pile up does... We thought over several ideas for Flagship and then decided between us that a "Pirate" theme would work, and so was born Percy The Pirate Penguin... Yarrr. He can now be seen all over Sians life, even down to her MSN piccy!! We even managed to get our favourite pirate joke onto the site, see if you can spot it. |
Lucy Rose says...We thought it was time to have a re-design of our website and there was lots of good feedback about Kevin at Phoenix on the EKM forums. Kevin straight away picked up on the concept we wanted and with the help of some images we sent came up with some great design options almost immediately. Even when we wanted him to change the some bits of the design, he seemed to instantly know what we were after. Kevin also came up with some great extras that we hadn't even thought about free of charge. All in all our site was up and running in three days, super quick and just what is required when you are running an e-commerce site. He also had some great advice regarding layout to help commercially as well as being ultra patient as we kept changing our mind on a few things. 10 out of 10. Temple TuningVicky of Temple Tuning's brief was quite specific, she wanted the Commerce template and had to be able to continue to add categories and products simply, her "target" clientele were not "boy racers" and so the site should reflect that. She also had a theme in mind for the banner, an inverted rising sun but in blue not the traditional red. After several versions of the banner she opted for the current version with some manufacturers logos, both for the makes of vehicle and the components they sell. |
Pretty Cool Jewellery
Caroline and Paul of Pretty Cool Jewellery were getting the visitors to their old site but the bounce rate was way too high, they decided that they needed to up their game and came to us for a makeover. Carolines brief was just that... brief; she wanted "duck egg blue and maybe gold or silver, and it has to look classy". After a while pondering on the name Pretty Cool we came up with the very pretty lady and a blue iceberg cropped tight and fading into the three editable elements where Caroline has put some of her signature pieces. The main banner was kept deliberately "clean" apart from the search box, this leads the eye down to the content below, sometimes less is definitely more. |
Temple Tuning says...We have been very pleased with Phoenix's modification of our EKM template. The website looks professional and is branded consistently throughout. Phoenix were really good at listening to our needs and encouraged us to explore what it was that we wanted the website to say. It is felt that Phoenix captured the brief of a serious enthusiast site coupled with functionality to perfection. Definitely our best business investment this year! |
Pretty Cool Jewellery says...We were struggling to get people to stay on our website for any length of time and knew that we needed to make the site look more professional and inviting. Being absolute novices at anything like this we approached Kevin at DesignForEKM after having already seen some sites that he had worked on. We gave Kevin some simple requirements that we thought we wanted. Kevin came back with ideas that we couldn't have dreamed of and looked sensational. We really didn't think that we could have afforded anything like this and are absolutely over the moon with the results. The speed that he did it in was amazing and without any teething problems. |

One Special Day - Charming BridalAndrea of One Special Day decided that her sites needed a make-over, we decided that we should follow a theme with the sites and change the colour scheme to make the sites appear slightly different whilst still being from the same company. We used a horizontal bar menu system with attached images to show the different items. |
Winksters PackagingLara of Winksters Packaging had just started using the new Sky template from EKM (actually based on a freely available template), the customisation options via the EKM control panel are few, however after exchanging a few emails, we were certain of the direction that she wanted the site to go. After the initial modifications it became clear to us that Lara's strong brand could be carried through the site quite easily. We also provided some artwork direct to Vistaprint for various business stationery. |
One Special Day says...Having spent a long time considering an overhaul of the website but being a bit nervous about taking such step, Kevin responded to my initial enquiry almost immediately and walked me through the process and design whilst translating some very vague ideas into a professional and beautiful site that is getting a lot of very positive feedback from customers. Straight after it went live there were 4 times as many sales as a typical Sunday! The results were so impressive that we came straight back for our second site to be updated and have plans for our third in the pipeline. Thank you Kevin – I wish I had done this months ago! |

Miss ShimmerTanya of Miss Shimmer Body Jewellery had played around with the Sunset template from EKM but just wasn't satisfied with the look, we have now done her site twice as she went through a re-branding exercise. |
Totally UnderwearOwen had very specific ideas of what he wanted, some of them weren't really possible on the EKM platform, but we took his requirements and very quickly found a look for the re-design that he liked. Both Owen and I both wanted to steer clear of the standard categories displayed on the main page as images to give the site a more contemporary and classy look. |
Miss Shimmer says...We played with many templates and decided on using sunset template (one of ekm's 'free' templates) but couldn't achieve the look required as we have very little HTML knowledge. Miss Shimmer was only created in October 2007 and the websites in March 2008 with the introduction of the wholesale side of the business. Novice at both ecommerce and website design I was totally lost. I spoke to Kevin and explained the feel I was trying to achieve for both sites. Both sites look really professional and want to thank Kevin for his patience. |
Totally Underwear says...Design for EKM were great. Prior to starting we discussed some templates that we had seen and liked and left Kevin to design something similar... we were surprised and delighted by the results which were exactly what we were after. Small changes and graphic modifications were made easily and without fuss and Kevin’s design skills fitted our needs exactly... Audiobook BargainsI was approached by Steve of Audiobook Bargains to re-vamp his site, whilst he was getting good rankings from Google and plenty of visitors his bounce rate was pretty high due the overall look of the site. When we discussed the type of clientele Audiobook Bargains attracted it struck me that the ability to increase/decrease the size of the text on the site would be a useful feature (something I had done a few times in my Joomla! sites), and after a little bit of head scratching worked out a viable method of achieving it under EKM's platform. The site need to have a reasonable amount of contrast due to the clients that are partially sited but still have a relaxed look. |
Autograph CollectionSteve from Autograph collection knew exactly what he wanted from his site and was very specific about what he didn't want. He wanted his site to be visually appealing but with 'class', his products are all unique and he need to convey the professionalism his business personifies. After some discussions and a few initial trials we soon reached an agreement on the format of his new site. |

Audiobook Bargains says...DesignForEKM worked on the template for my site in the middle of last year. Recognising that a good proportion of my buyers have failing site (I sell audio books), Kevin suggested a system that allowed the fontsize to be adjusted by a mouse click to aid the partially sighted. The feedback from customers was wonderful. The design is clean & exactly in tune with my marketplace. |
Autograph Collection says...An imaginative eye for design combined with a highly professional approach. Easy to work with and a great aftercare service. Most importantly how did customers respond to the new design - bounce rate reduced, viewing time increased and sales on the up - can't ask for much better than that... |

Heroes AssembleMark sells products I wish I could afford to collect, from being very small I hoarded my collection of comics.. Till disaster struck long after I moved out of my parents (See Marks comment below), but within minutes of chatting to Mark I had the germ of an idea, I wanted the site to look like a comic book, and I think I could have gone on forever tweaking and playing with it all. There is some really cool page flip technology available and sadly I couldnt use it on EKM's platform, but I think it would have looked brilliant!! Mark had his own menu system he wanted to use, a fFlash based buzzy thing, I hated it at first but have to admit it was fun to roll the mouse over it and hear the static style buzz.. Sadly he's taken it off now... |

Heroes Assemble says..Having spent a long time considering an overhaul of the website but being a bit nervous about taking such step, Kevin responded to my initial enquiry almost immediately and walked me through the process and design whilst translating some very vague ideas into a professional and beautiful site that is getting a lot of very positive feedback from customers. Straight after it went live there were 4 times as many sales as a typical Sunday! The results were so impressive that we came straight back for our second site to be updated and have plans for our third in the pipeline. Thank you Kevin – I wish I had done this months ago! I approached Kevin with a degree of cautious optimism. I was impressed by his work on other sites but they were for cosmetics and very different areas to mine so I didn't know whether he could translate my ideas. However, after 15 minutes on the phone and listening to the torrid story of his 2000AD collection being thrown out by his mum (we've all been there!), I felt we could work together and that he could use his talents in the comics & collectibles arena. He rapidly developed a prototype for the layout and a great new logo. After rapid exchanges of ideas and feedback the site was 99% done in just 4 days and got great reviews and feedback from the folk on the EKM Forum. More importantly, the ultimate judges are visitors and customers who have been very positive about the new site. Since the work was done, traffic has more than doubled to over 3,000 impressions per week in the first 3 weeks and sales are up by 50% per week so far. It is also far easier for me to manage the content too, which saves a lot of time. He is to EKM Powershop what the Stig is to Top Gear, and can definitely help you get the best performance out of the EKM vehicle!!" Storm TradingStorm Trading had played around with their EKM template and had some good ideas, unfortunately techincally they were unable to achieve the look they wanted and relied heavily on images and flash for the frontpage, whilst this gave the site visitor a lot of the information they needed it looked a little homemade and was an SEO nightmare. |

Storm Trading says...DesignForEKM provides an absolutely magnificent service. The work which was carried out was of a high standard, and Kevin was integral part in completing the website to a high standard. After considering many quotes from other designers, we concluded that this was going to be a costly project, but Kevin certainly blew us of our seats with the quote he provided. Funky Canvas Art
Dave from Funky Canvas Art has three EKM stores, he 'had a go' at modifying the Commerce template but he couldn't get the 'funkiness' he wanted. We came up with the idea of making the site look like a contemporary art gallery, banners as canvas art and the whole thing 'hanging' on a concrete wall. After the initial design was done, Dave asked us to roll out the design to his two other stores, Canvas Art Direct and Funky Canvas Prints. |

Having tried and tested EKM myself I finally realised that to get full potential out the program I need to little hellping hand, Kevin at Design for EKM came to the rescue. After getting quoted a ridiculous price and timescale from EKM, I spoke to Kevin and within 5 days I have my brand new website www.funkycanvasart.com, it was a quick and easy process with a no quibble service any changes needed was all done within the price and there were no hidden costs. |
